San Antonio, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Brett Hundley began to jump up and down with his arms raised in victory before Paul Perkins crossed midfield. Perkins ran for 194 yards and two touchdowns, including a backbreaking 67-yard scoring run late in the fourth quarter to seal No. 14 UCLAs 40-35 victory over No. 11 Kansas State in the Alamo Bowl on Friday. Kansas State fought back from a 31-6 halftime deficit, cutting the margin to 34-28 after Jake Waters plunged in from a yard out with 4:54 remaining. UCLA (10-3), though, had an answer. Faced with a 2nd-and-13 at its own 33 following a false start penalty, Perkins burst through a huge hole off the left side of the line untouched and strolled the rest of the way for the score. The ensuing two-point conversion was unsuccessful. Waters hit Tyler Lockett for a 29-yard touchdown to claw Kansas State (9-4) within 40-35, but an onside kick was recovered by the Bruins. UCLA had a 331-31 advantage in rushing yards. Hundley, in what most likely was his last collegiate game, completed 12-of-24 passes for 136 yards with a touchdown and added 96 yards and two scores on the ground for the Bruins, who have won consecutive bowl games for the first time since winning eight in a row from 1983-1991. Its just a good way to go out on top, Hundley said. Linebacker Deon Hollins registered three of UCLAs seven sacks. Waters was 31-of-48 for 338 yards with two touchdown passes to Lockett, who had 13 catches for 164 yards for Kansas State, which was seeking its third 10- win campaign over the last four seasons. We had a chance to come back, we had a great rally ... unfortunately we came up a little short, Lockett said. Curry Sexton had 10 receptions for 104 yards in defeat. The Bruins outgained the Wildcats 312-104 in the first half en route to their 31-6 cushion, but Kansas State put together a 17-play, 75-yard march to start the third and begin its comeback attempt. Kansas State moved the chains a trio of times on third down, picked up a fourth down conversion and Waters hit Lockett for a 3-yard score on a 4th-and- goal. Waters also found Lockett for the two-point conversion and get the Wildcats within 31-14. Ryan Mueller ripped the ball away from Perkins on the second play of UCLAs next touch and Dakorey Johnson made the recovery. The Wildcats capitalized on the turnover when DeMarcus Robinson found the end zone from two yards out, whittling the gap to 31-21 late in the third. Hundley appeared bottled up on a 3rd-and-11 before breaking free along the right sideline for a 40-yard gain, setting up Kaiimi Fairbairn for a 44-yard field goal. The Wildcats were ready to punt the ball back to the Bruins on a 4th-and-11 from the UCLA 47 with under seven minutes to go, but UCLA committed a substitution infraction. The penalty made fourth down more manageable and Waters fired an 18-yard completion to Sexton. He found Sexton for a 12-yard reception on the next play and Waters finished off the trek with his 1-yard TD keeper. Hundley ran in from 10 yards out to conclude UCLAs opening series and following a Kansas State three-and-out, Fairbairn made it 10-0 with a 27-yard field goal. The Wildcats moved the sticks just once before punting again and Hundley broke off a 28-yard touchdown run down the left sideline for a 17-0 spread late in the first. Matthew McCrane split the uprights from 47 and 29 yards, respectively, on consecutive Kansas State possessions to pull the Wildcats within 17-6, but the Bruins found the end zone twice more prior to halftime. Perkins ran for a 32-yard score and Hundley tossed a 7-yard touchdown pass to Devin Lucien in the waning moments of the half. Game Notes UCLA hasnt finished higher than 16th in the AP poll since 1998 ... It was the third time the programs met, but their first encounter wasnt until 2009. The Bruins lead the series 2-1 ... Bruins linebacker Eric Kendricks posted two sacks ... UCLA was 7-of-15 on third down, while K-State finished 6-of-16. Cameron Sutton Jersey . Balotelli was out at dinner with his brother Enoch and came home to discover he had been burgled. The car was later found abandoned. Balotelli wrote Saturday on Twitter: "I feel empty! No emotions . Arthur Moats Jersey . The Ravens werent about to let it happen again. Carleton picked up its fourth straight national mens basketball title, and 10th in the last 12 years, with a 79-67 victory over its crosstown rival on Sunday. http://www.footballsteelerstore.us/Black-Friday-William-Gay-Jersey/. A knee to the thigh might have stung him the most, but his sixth straight double-double made up for the brief burst of pain. Vince Williams Jersey . Roma has a game in hand but now second place is even at risk for the capital side as Napoli moved to within three points with the win. "The result is not always fair," Roma coach Rudi Garcia said. "If we play like this until the end we will win many matches. Martavis Bryant Jersey . Pominville scored in all three of Minnesotas games last week to help the Wild (8-4-3, 19 points) earn four out of a possible six points. His best performance was in a 4-3 win over Montreal on Friday, where he posted a season-high three points (two goals, one assist), including the game-winning goal. NEW YORK -- Torontos DeMar DeRozan will be joining an elite group of basketball players in New Orleans two weeks from now after being named a reserve for the NBA All-Star game on Wednesday. DeRozan, who missed the Raptors last two games with a sprained ankle, leads the team in scoring with 21.8 points per game. This will be his third appearance at the NBA All-Star weekend -- he participated in the Slam Dunk competition in 2010 and 2011, and also suited up for the 2011 Rookie Challenge -- but this years event will mark his first time in the actual game. The Portland Trail Blazers and Houston Rockets each had two players picked as reserves, while the Indiana Pacers had to settle for just Roy Hibbert despite the leagues best record. LaMarcus Aldridge and Damian Lillard made it from the Trail Blazers, who have been among the Western Conference leaders all season. Dwight Howard, who was passed late in fan voting for a starting spot, was chosen Thursday along with Houston teammate James Harden. Old reliables Chris Paul, Tony Parker and Dirk Nowitzki round out the West reserves for the Feb. 16 game in New Orleans. Nowitzki earned his 12th selection, tying him for sixth all-time with nine players. "I have been a part of All-Star weekend every year since I have been in the league and not being there last year felt strange," Nowitzki said in a statement. "The Dallas fan base has always been great to me and the Mavericks organization and the city deserves to be represented at the All-Star game." The rest of the East reserves are: Miamis Chris Bosh, Washingtons John Wall, Brooklyns Joe Johnson, Chicagos Joakim Noah and Atlantas Paul Millsap. Wall is the first Wizards All-Star since Caron Butler and Antawn Jamison were picked in 2008, the last time the game was in New Orleans. "I am very proud to represent the Wizards franchise and the city of Washington as an All-Star and to share this honour with the fans who have supported me and stuck by me since I arrived hhere," said Wall, the No.dddddddddddd 1 pick in the 2010 draft. The Pacers hoped Lance Stephenson, who leads the NBA in triple-doubles, would also be selected to join Hibbert and Paul George, who was voted to start. The reserves were chosen by the coaches from each conference, who had to vote for two guards, three frontcourt players and two regardless of position. They were not allowed to vote for their own players. The West ones went for veterans with their choices at guard in Paul, last years All-Star game MVP from the Los Angeles Clippers, and the Spurs Parker. That left first-time hopefuls Goran Dragic of Phoenix and Mike Conley Jr. of Memphis home. The starters were announced last week: Miamis LeBron James and Dwyane Wade, New Yorks Carmelo Anthony and Clevelands Kyrie Irving were voted to start along with George. The fans voted for NBA scoring leader Kevin Durant of Oklahoma City, the Lakers Kobe Bryant, Golden States Stephen Curry, Minnesotas Kevin Love and the Clippers Blake Griffin. Bryant is injured and not expected to play. Adam Silver, who will become commissioner Saturday, will choose replacements for Bryant and any other injured players. Indianas Frank Vogel and Oklahoma Citys Scott Brooks will coach the game. Brooks would determine who replaces Bryant in the starting lineup. Bosh is an All-Star for the ninth time in 11 seasons, while Lillard, Wall, DeRozan and Millsap were all chosen for their first All-Star game. Millsap was the Eastern Conference player of the week last week. "Paul has been an All-Star player and an All-Star teammate for us," general manager Danny Ferry said. "The Atlanta Hawks are very proud to have Paul representing the city of Atlanta and our team." Hometown hopeful Anthony Davis of the Pelicans, and centres DeAndre Jordan of the Clippers and DeMarcus Cousins of Sacramento were among those who missed out. Orlandos Arron Afflalo and Torontos Kyle Lowry didnt make the cut in the East.
