To Enable Cheats (PC): Unlike Hitman, the following cheats in Hitman 2 are typed directly in-game, rather than into the console.

  • Open Windows Notepad
  • Open the "hitman2.ini" file located in the Hitman 2 game directory.
  • At the bottom add the following two lines: "EnableConsole 1" and "EnableCheats 1" (without quotes).
  • Now save the file in its new state, overwriting the old one.
  • Find the hitman2.ini file using Explorer or My Computer, right click on its icon, select Properties, and then check the "Read-only" box. Click the Apply button and then the OK button.
Type the following while playing in any mission:

Cheat Entered Effect
IOIRULEZ Toggles god mode
IOIGIVES Equips all weapons
IOIHITLEIF Replinishes health
IOIPOWER Enables megaforce
IOIER Toggles bomb mode
IOINGUN Toggles nailgun

Dual Handgun Bug: It is possible to fire any two hanguns in an Akimbo fashion.

  • With your hands empty, select the Ballers from your inventory. Now drop them on the ground.
  • Equip the handgun you would like to have in your left hand. 47 will now be holding this gun in his right hand.
  • Pick up the Ballers. 47 will transfer the gun in his right hand to his left hand, and place the Ballers in his coat.
  • Now equip the handgun you want in your right hand.
The guns will now fire just like the Ballers. There is also no reload animation, therefore no pause to reload, effectively making the clip hold the total number of shells you have.

Sergei Corpse Bug: In "Redemption at Gontranno" enter the church through the front door, and walk directly up to the door facing you. There is no option to open it, but if you use the fiber wire, 47 will kill Sergei through the door. Now when Sergei exits the confession booth, his corpse will slide around on the floor until you "kill" him again to end the game. [Thanks to Martin]

Lockpick Bug: When 47 begins picking a lock, wait one second, then access the map screen. When you close the map screen, the door will be unlocked. [Thanks to Catflap]

Computer Cutscene Bug: In "The Graveyard Shift" placing the hacking device on the server shows a mini cutscene of 47 leaning back, pushing the computer forward, placing the device and then pushing it back. If at any point of this cut scene you access the map and then close the map screen, you will cause hitman to freeze for the rest of the scene. The computer will slide forward by itself and then slide back while 47 is frozen in whatever position he was when you checked the map. [Thanks to jonnyboy]

Large Guns Bug: Hold a large gun, eg an Uzi, then pick the lock on any door, and 47 will put the gun away into his inventory. Quickly run away from the door whilst 47 is still picking the lock, and it will stay in his inventory, but not in his hands! You can then proceed to collect another gun, and perform the same trick! This also means that any guards won't be alarmed by you carrying sniper rifles, etc. around with you! [Thanks to CukyDoh]

Automatic Sawn-off Bug: First equip the ballers. Drop them on the ground. Now equip any pistol, it really doesn't matter which kind. Now pick up the ballers, and you will see 47 put the chosen pistol in his left hand. Finally, equip the sawn-off shotgun. If you press rapidly there will be no need to reload, making it really fast. [Thanks to Paul Kapridov]

Easter Eggs

The Gontranno Sanctuary: When you start in the church yard go and find the scarecrow. If you get close enough to it and move around it slowly, the scarecrow's head will follow you! Also if you played the original Hitman you will notice that it is wearing the clothes of Ivan, Boris' nasty sidekick. [Thanks to Josh Burrows]

Tubeway Torpedo: In one of the rooms inside the military headquarters basement, there is a newspaper with some Danish soccer teams on it. It says that FC Copenhagen won the Danish championship. Newspapers in the original Hitman also featured this team. View screenshot. [Thanks to Martin]

One of the crates is graffited with "FCK", which is the same Danish soccer team. View screenshot. [Thanks to Thomas]

St. Petersburg Stakeout: After (or before, it doesn't really matter) you take out your mark, go into the Pushkin Building. All of the other generals will be running around both floors and cowering. Either chloroform or pistol-whip one. If it's one of the smokers, then he'll drop his cigar. Pick it up and take a look in your inventory, where IOI has left public service announcement. View screenshot. [Thanks to Dan]

Invitation To A Party: A newspaper located in the basement storage room and in all the upstairs offices is called the "Haily Derald." The headline reads "FCK Danish Champions 2001," the developers' undisputed favorite soccer team. View screenshot. [Thanks to Alexander Mucke]

Shogun Showdown: In a room on the first floor of the castle is a newspaper lying on a table. The paper is called Japan Tomorrow and the headline reads: "Danish Criminals in Japan," with pictures of three assumed IOI employees. View Screenshot. [Thanks to Classic]. Update: The Danish text above the pictures, "Københavner drenge i Japan," means "Copenhagen boys in Japan" (Copenhagen is the capital of Denmark), and the Danish text below the pictures, "Mistænkt for Pigesmugling," means "Suspected for Girl-smuggling." [Thanks to Martin]

Basement Killing: The large sign in the main lobby says "FCK," which is actually a Danish soccer team (view screenshot). The note on the wall of the cubicle where you start says "William C.," who is a developer at IO-Interactive (view screenshot). The soccer team photo on the wall in the basement is a real soccer team from Copenhagen (view screenshot). The potato chip bag mimics a real brand of Danish chips called Kims Franske Kartofler (view screenshot). The pizza boxes say "Ægte Pizza med lort på," which in English tranlates to "real pizza with shit on it" (view screenshot). [Thanks to Thomas]

In the lower basement, the target is drinking bottles of "Kinky Cola," which was the name of the Rotterdam strip club in Hitman: Codename 47 (view screenshot). [Thanks to Beelzebub]

The Graveyard Shift: In the kitchen, there is a security camera pointed at the coffee pot. If you shoot it, it says "Web Camera Has Been Destroyed" rather than the usual security camera message. That's because this camera is (most likely) a throwback to the "Trojan Room Coffee Machine" webpage, which featured a webcam pointed at a coffee machine, which ran from 1991 until 2001. The webpage is still up. View Screenshot. [Thanks to Brian]

The Jacuzzi Job: In the Jacuzzi room there is a toy on the desk. It is Dopefish, a character that first appeared in Commander Keen: Episode IV, and has since been featured as an easter egg in games like Duke Nukem, Quake and Max Payne, among others. View Screenshot. [Thanks to LordJumper]

On the wall of the apartment is the stuffed head of a jaguar. The nameplate underneath says "The Jungle God," which was the jaguar from the Hitman 1 level of the same name. View Screenshot. [Thanks to Thomas]

The jade statue appears to be the same one 47 stole from Lee Hong in the original Hitman game. [Thanks to mr_big12345]

Tunnel Rat: Look closely at the boxes piled up the General's quarters. They are Hitman game boxes. View Screenshot. [Thanks to Stayer] Update: The design of the boxes is actually from Russian pirated copies of the game. [Thanks to sen-dog]

Redemption at Gontranno: Use the binoculars to take a closer look at the ammo boxes in the shed (or on any level really), for some interesting commentary from the developers. The .45 ACP boxes say in English, "Favorite ammo of Chris Walker, freedom fighter and an all around good guy." The pistol ammo boxes say in Danish, "In Denmark we are NOT racists, we just have a couple of right wing politicians that draws a lot of attention. (F*uck them)." Finally, the Magnum boxes say in Danish, "If you can read this, you're too close. This ammo kicks ass." [Thanks to Fredrik and Blasfemi]

Miscellaneous: The license plate on all Russian limos reads: "X001YE 78rus," which is Russian slang for "the first member (penis)." View Screenshot. [Thanks to sen-dog]
