WHITE STREAKS of GUNFIRE fly from below. The Hitman and Lobo spin themselves around, avoiding the slugs.
INT. THE SERVICE ELEVATOR- NIGHT
McInnery reloads his smoking Colt Commando, looking upwards. He is about to fire again when a trio of bullets PERFORATE the tightly interlaced chain roof.
MCINNERY
Shit!
He flings himself flat against the wall of the elevator. The gunfire misses him.
INT. THE SHAFT- NIGHT
Lobo leans in, and is about to fire when the Hitman whips around and puts his desert eagle to Lobo's head...
Lobo lets go of the cable.
INT. THE SERVICE ELEVATOR- NIGHT
The elevator stops and McInnery hurriedly opens the door and rushes out.
Lobo, just as McInnery exits, SLAMS into the roof of the elevator.
INT. THE SHAFT- NIGHT
The Hitman lets go of the cable, his feet out in front of him. He plummets, aiming to land on Lobo's chest.
Lobo, at the last second, rolls himself away. The Hitman CRASHES through the metal roof. Lobo struggles to his feet on the elevator and jumps down into the elevator, just as the Hitman scrabbles his way out.
INT. THE FINAL ASCENT- NIGHT
An enormous staircase leads upwards, and McInnery can be seen sprinting upwards, toward a final open security door.
The Hitman runs up after McInnery, reloading as he does so. Lobo jogs into view behind him.
Lobo aims at the back of the Hitman, about to fire when the Hitman whirls around and FIRES. Lobo ducks and the bullet misses.
The Hitman continues on his ascent, sweat streaming off him. His breathing becomes labored.
Lobo leaps onto the stairs, taking three at a time. He holsters his berretta, opting instead for a MAC-10. He FIRES, sending bullets RICOCHETING around the Hitman. He FIRES behind him without slowing.
McInnery disappears from the Hitman's view through the security door. The Hitman moves even quicker up the stairs.
Lobo FIRES again, draining his clip. The Hitman is unscathed. Lobo GROWLS in frustration as he continues climbing the stairs. Smoothly, he flings out his left arm just as the Hitman gets to the last stair. The sudden movement dislodges the tied knife and it FLIES into the Hitman's leg.
The Hitman collapses onto the steps and slides back before his desperate fingers grab hold enough to end his descent.
Lobo sprints up the stairs, gaining on the fallen Hitman. The Hitman grabs at the knife, jerking it free with a GRUNT.
Lobo is five steps away, aiming as he moves.
The Hitman flings the knife behind him, straight at Lobo. In desperation, Lobo arches back, avoiding the knife, but falling down several stairs. As he tumbles down the stairs, he manages to FIRE, but the Hitman rolls out the door.
INT. THE FINAL DOOR- NIGHT
The HItman rolls into the small final room that has a ladder in the center of the room. It leads to a trapdoor. He sits up quickly and takes off his jacket. He tears off his shirtsleeve.
INT. THE FINAL ASCENT- NIGHT
Lobo uses his legs to stop his fall and rights himself. He dashes after the Hitman.
INT. THE FINAL DOOR- NIGHT
The Hitman climbs up the ladder, moving out of view.
Lobo walks in and immediately climbs the ladder.
EXT. THE SIDE OF THE AGENCY- NIGHT
Lobo comes into view just as the Hitman FIRES. Lobo FALLS out of view and the Hitman speedily walks away.
INT. THE FINAL DOOR- NIGHT
Lobo lands heavily but is on his feet once more, climbing up again.
INT. THE AGENCY- NIGHT
The sprinklers turn on, emitting a thick blue liquid, namely cyanide, coupled with a fine misty gas. We watch as this gas covers the scene, obscuring the bodies of the Controller and the Agent.
INT. THE ESCAPE ROUTE- NIGHT
The gas seeps into the room with the elevator, filling it quickly.
INT. THE FINAL ASCENT- NIGHT
Gas fills the large room quickly.
CUT TO:
EXT. THE BACK OF THE AGENCY- NIGHT
The Hitman rounds the side of the building before a BULLET slams into the metal wall near his head. He flings himself away, back to the side of the building.
EXT. THE INDUSTRIAL ENTRANCE- NIGHT
McInnery puts down his Colt Commando and enters an industrial area lined with wrecked cars, a car crusher, oil tanks and so forth. He runs out of view.
CUT TO:
EXT. THE SIDE OF THE AGENCY- NIGHT
The Hitman's eyes narrow. He reloads his desert eagle, his thoughts audible:
HITMAN (V. O.)
It's time to end this. Two more problems to iron out. Hope my leg has stopped bleeding... its starting to go numb. No time to check it.
He snaps in a clip and slides a bullet into the chamber.
HITMAN (V.O.)
No time...
He spins around and fires at the figure of Lobo. Lobo ducks out of view.
